The world needs leaders – great leaders. They are required in many aspects, from running a business to leading an entire nation. So therefore, an important question arises – what makes a good leader?
There are various qualities required for a person to become an amazing, all rounded leader. However, there are 4 main aspects that stand out.
Firstly, a good leader must have a mindset that calls for action punctually and immediately for any situation. In any sort of crisis, in a business or on the world stage, one must have critical thinking skills. An action taker never hesitates to take a decision, unlike other people, when pressure mounts upon them. This ultimately leads to a more efficient, cohesive, and smart business approach, under a leader who considers action to be essential at any time.
However, in order to be efficient and trustworthy, this action-heavy mindset must be accompanied by logic and practicality. Quite simply, what would be the point of an overload of actions and orders that aren’t practical or progressive? Thus, in order to prevent resources being exhausted carelessly, a leader must have this mindset coupled with traits of logic and appropriateness.

Second, a leader must be trusted by all the employees around him/her. Studies show that employees who do not trust their leader are more likely to leave their job than to stay with uncertainty as to what the owner is doing behind the scenes. This is where transparency usually comes in handy, and a good leader must be willing to do this.
In addition, this links to relationship-building between the leader and the employees. A great leader must have a strong focus for building trust and a good relationship between all employees. Good communication is always essential here, as well as being authentic. Undoubtedly, this leads to better chemistry between the leader and the workforce, and ultimately allows the organisation to thrive, through increased efficiency and a happy workforce. Being humble and kind to employees also takes one a long way.
Last but not least, a good leader must always be a role model whenever in the workplace, as well as out of it. Although one may not know it, leaders are constantly being observed and judged by employees around him/her. By becoming a good role model with all of the previous qualities stated above and more, you can help your workforce, as employees will learn how a great leader functions under pressure, what your critical thinking process is like, and then obtain these qualities themselves.
While these are some of the most important traits in a leader that must be developed and maintained, we must never forget that what is most important is that for a person to be a true leader, they must have a dream, and the determination and willpower to bring this ideal to life–to lead people towards a brighter future.
